Rules for Mini-Football (Abbreviated)
Playing equipment
Children must wear footwear suitable to the playing
surface, ie football boots (togs) on grass, trainers on astro-turf.
All children must wear suitable
shinguards.
All jewellery must be removed.
Please note :
These rules regarding playing equipment
apply to all training sessions as well as matches.

These team & pitch sizes must be adhered to in
order to satisfy FAW/league public
liability insurance purposes.
The maximum goal size for all age groups is 12ft x 6ft.
It is highly recommended that under 7's utilize a smaller pop-up goal as there are no goal
keepers.
Penalty Area
Sizes
The goal area can be marked by cones on the touchline and a small
number of marker discs on the playing area. The goal area extends a set distance from the goal line and is
set out in the table below.

Under 10's goalkeeping
Under 10's must
throw the ball out or kick from the floor, once the ball is on the floor it is live and the keeper can be
challenged for it.
It is not
permitted to kick from the hands (this is to prevent ping-pong between
goalkeepers).
Are taken anywhere on the goal line at Under
7.
Are taken at the edge of the penalty
area at Under 8, 9, 10 and 11 – the opposition should be at least 5 yards
away.
From Under 8 upwards
the ball must be kicked out of
the penalty area before
another player touches it.
Under 8’s and 9’s a goal kick may be taken from their hands from
within the goal area.
There are no restrictions regarding the number of players allowed in
the goal area during open play.
Players can pass the ball to their own goalkeeper and
the goalkeeper
may handle the ball.
The pass
back to the keeper rule does not apply.
The off-side
rule does not apply.
There is a new structure for the 2010/11 season and its as follows
U7s play 4v4 (NO GOALIE, POP UP GOALS)
U8s play 5v5 with GOALIE
U9s play 6v6 with GOALIE
U10s play 8v8 with GOALIE
U11s play 8v8 with GOALIE
